About Me

And why I got into the field of dog training

Hi, I am Mr. Tim…

Well that’s how I’ve been known the last 30 years. As a magician, a kids entertainer, and science educator. I love dogs and have owned and trained my personal dogs over the years and experienced field trials, lure coursing and agility.

Magic Maggie

Maggie, one of my pups,  performed in my magic show on occasions. Sadly as with all dogs, we can never keep them long enough. Maggie was diagnosed with a rare form of skin cancer at the end of 2019. She started a six month treatment. Removal of tumors was out of the question because of her tiny frame. Initially things started to look up, but did not last. July came she hadn’t eaten much in the last few days. She had a favorite spot on the couch where she stayed.

RIP 04/07/2020.

The night of July 3rd I was lying on the bed with Maggie lying beside me. I was a little emotional and talking to her. Letting her know what an amazing dog she was. Tears were dripping on my pillow. All of a sudden she got up. Her energy came out of nowhere started jumping up and down, licking my face and just being her usual silly self. Maggie licked tears away. We enjoyed a few minutes of joy and play. She let me know it was going to be okay. That night we slept, I woke early around 5am. I hear the pitter patter of tiny feet, Maggie wanted to be picked up, she must have jumped off the bed in the night and went walkabout. I picked her up, she laid back down with me, I woke up about an hour later, sadly Maggie did not. That July 4th we didn’t feel much like celebrating, but Magic Maggie was ruining free.

Ruby!!  A life changing experience.

Several months later during a visit with Animal Control I met Ruby. She looked so sad. When I asked to meet her the first thing she did was sit up and give me her paw to shake, What I didn’t know until I went to fill out the paperwork was her history. Originally a stray, she’d been returned twice to the shelter as the new owners couldn’t handle her. She had also attacked and badly injured a cat and was on her final strike.

She’s coming home.

Upon getting her home we soon realized she was very reactive to a lot of things. To people, to other dogs, to cars she’d got into a fight. The one or two dogs she did like she would play so rough that it would terrify the other dogs owners. She made friends with a neighbor’s Aussie and as much as they wanted to play she would mouth so much and literally pin that poor dog down to the ground by her throat. Even playing with a friend she was totally wild.

Training Starts

I set to work, doing what I could. Within a relatively short time, I had a completely different dog.. It was at that moment I realized what I wanted to do.  Unfortunately there are many dogs in shelters like Ruby, many will never find homes and some people just dump or surrender a dog because of behavioral issues. So my life changed a little, I’ve always been about entertaining, putting smiles on kids and parents faces with a little magic. Now I’ve started to work my magic with dogs, and it occasionally looks that way too clients. However its calm, confident and consistent leadership that makes the magic.

Back to school.

I had decided to go back to school, because you don’t know what you don’t know and joined a dog behavioral academy.  Myself and Four Corners Dog Training are here to help . I’ve always enjoyed the idea to do something that can truly make a difference and be meaningful. Now I get to literally change lives, not just dogs but also their owners.
